Kopyl is a city and district center of the Minsk region, the official date of “birth” 1005 year (previously considered 1247). Despite such an impressive history, modern Kopyl is quite young (it has the status of a city since 1944). Actively developed and grew in population until the 2000s (the number reached 11 thousand people). Today officially about 9300 inhabitants live here. Let's see what's interesting see in Kopyl and what Attraction there is.
First of all, according to the tradition of all travelbetter go to historical center. Here is preserved ordinary building with beautiful modernist houses located on Lenin Square. Similar buildings can be seen in many cities Belarus (good examples in postavakh и Dyatlovo).
These houses were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and were mostly owned by local wealthy Jews. On the first floors, various shops worked and services were provided, while the attic and second floors were residential.
Next to Lenin Square is perhaps the main attraction of Kopyl - Church of the Ascension.
The temple was built in 1866 year and is probably one of the oldest buildings in the city.
Also in Kopyl was Church of Saints Peter and Paul. In Soviet times, this neo-Gothic temple was closed, and during the occupation, the Germans organized a stable in it. Then, already on the ruins, in the 50s, a restaurant was built, which still operates today.
If you look closely at the old photograph, you can see that the walls and the pediment of the former church have been partially preserved.
Современный church in Kopyl built in the 2000s, its architecture has features of Art Nouveau and Neo-Baroque styles.
Opposite the church local history museum. Open daily from 9 to 18, day off Monday.
There is an interesting sculpture in front of the entrance - monument to the master tanner, for the image of which is taken Tishka Gartny (his house in Kopyl is located on Karl Marx Street 39). Behind this pseudonym was hidden Dmitry Fyodorovich Zhilunovich, writer and poet.
Kopyl park begins behind the museum (Alley of writers), where large letters are set on which are the names of famous writers of Belarus and QR codes, by which you can learn more about the work of the authors. There are 17 letters in total, and there are about 50 names in the list.
It can be seen that the administration of Kopyl pays attention to our culture. There are several murals in the city in honor of writers, writing and just thematic ones - it looks very dignified.
Although there are no old estates in Kopyl, the city pleasantly surprises with its atmosphere and accuracy. If you are in these parts, you can add a few additional points for your trip:
- I advise you to visit former estate Pukovo and to look ruins of a church in the village of Komsomolskaya.
