In addition to classic sights like the church, church and ruins, in the smallest city of Belarus, - Disney, there is also an unusual ferry across the Western Dvina. Of course, it is unusual only for tourists, but for local residents it is rather an everyday mode of transport connecting Disna and Lunacharskoye.
The water ferry does not operate all year round, but usually from the end of March to the end of October. This service is free and popular, so if you want to cross from one coast to another, then plan your trip in advance and keep at least an hour in reserve.
From Disna, the ferry departs every hour, starting at 7:00 and finishing at 20:00. From the Lunacharskoye shore, departure to N-30, below the schedule board (photo taken in 2022, August).
Usually the ferry is served by 2 people, one manages and controls the engine (it seems to be from the T-25 tractor), the second one opens the barrier and keeps order. The distance between the shores is small, about 250 meters and is overcome in an average of 3-5 minutes, but this process causes only positive emotions.
The ferry is clean and tidy, there is a change house for workers.
For passengers, waiting areas with a canopy are equipped.
About 6-8 cars are placed on this peculiar barge. I did not find information about the limit on the number of people, so they will probably take everyone within reason.
Loading and unloading in a queue, it is not difficult to enter and exit the ferry, no special skills are needed, just a little care.
Below is the point with the location of the ferry crossing. I advise you to arrive ahead of time in order to calmly take the queue (especially for summer days).
