The red brick building was built in 1910. The upper part of the tower differs in color as a result of an attempted restoration. Itself water head built in neo-gothic style.

The tower is full of history and is an architectural monument. Now the Water Tower is in private ownership, but is available for external review, takes its place among attractions in Minsk.

A few years ago, the state of this place was much worse. The abundance of garbage, inscriptions and the absence of a roof. Now the building is well preserved.

In the 20th century, this object was entrusted with the mission of supplying water to hospital buildings, a locomotive depot and a station. The thickness of the walls of the tower reaches about one and a half meters.

The only one preserved in Minsk the water tower could attract many tourists and lovers of beautiful historical sites. Take a look if possible.

Known water tower is located near Zhukov Avenue along Avtodorovskaya street, 3.

  1. I would not say that the Water Tower is such a ruin. On the contrary, it has survived relatively well. If it were slightly restored from the outside, ennobling the adjacent territory, it would be possible to get an attractive corner for guests of Minsk and residents of the city. It is strange that the owner does not bother with this. After all, it is not businesslike to let such a historical heritage of the last century collapse.

  2. Why is the tower in the “Ruins of Belarus” section? As for me, it has been preserved in its original form and should be one of the symbols of the city, such as our Vinnitsa water tower.

  3. The hands of the state do not reach the restoration of historical monuments, and then a private trader grabbed the object, but there was not enough strength or desire to bring it to mind. Let's just hope it doesn't break. Is it at least in the register of protected objects of history?

  4. It is interesting how partisans hid in it in occupied Minsk, at an important (guarded) railway junction for the Nazis, with the same success you can hide in the Gauleiter's office. Another thing is that in the defense of the hospital, the railway junction and the tower, if you like, about ten policemen died, so this is a fact. There is even a memorial plaque with names.
Ps Weak journalist. Thinking along the way. And after all in three meters memorial.

  5. From history: in December 1941, underground workers disabled the water supply network at the Minsk railway junction. And they certainly didn't hide there.

  6. I can't help but calm down reading such low-grade material.
The upper part is lighter due to the fact that initially the cap over the water tanks was wooden and apparently burned down. That's why they built a new brick cap.
And restoration means restoring the original appearance, so it has nothing to do with restoration.
