Belarus - this is a country where in every small settlement there was a gentry estate. In Soviet times, the situation changed dramatically, almost all the intelligentsia were dispossessed of kulaks, and manor houses were ruined. The village is no exception. Orekhovno, where it is partially preserved Grebnitsky's estate.
These lands were sold to the Grebnitskys in 1745 by the landowner Jan Rypinsky. Over time, it was decided to build a small family palace on the site of the old estate.
For the construction of the manor house, an excellent place was chosen on the bank of a small Lake Orekhovno.
In 1840, the Grebnitsky estate in the village of Orekhovno was completed. By this time, a landscape park had already been formed and a Uniate church had been built.
Architecturally, the estate belongs to late classicism, one-story, but with a two-story central part. A rather unusual solution is the entrance, which is located on the right side of the house. (usually in such estates it is located in the center). Probably - a consequence of the reconstruction of the estate. Some sources have information that there was the same symmetrical entrance on the left.
Unfortunately, the four-column portico is slowly collapsing, one of the columns is ready to collapse at any moment.
The Grebnitskys ceased to own Orekhovno in 1917, when nationalization began. In the 30s, apartments for workers of the collective farm "Red October" were placed within the walls of the estate.
During the Second World War, the Grebnitsky estate was used as a military hospital of the 2nd Ushach partisan brigade. After the end of the war, there were classrooms here.
The school functioned until the early 90s, until it moved to a new building. After that, the estate in Orekhovno becomes unnecessary and decays more and more every year.
"Vitebsk property“The Grebnitsky estate was put up for auction several times, even those who wanted to buy appeared. However, the complexity of the reconstruction and many restrictions made it impossible to start work on the revival of the historical heritage. Last time, auctions started from only 27 rubles, so if you have long dreamed of your own estate, then the house in Orekhovno is waiting for you.
The manor complex is quite easy to find, see the mark on the map:
Not far from the village of Orekhovno you can visit church in Ushachi. Other sights of Belarus.
