In the Baranovichi region, in the village Big Svorotva, located unique Church of the Holy Trinity, made in the form triangle. As you understand, such architecture is non-canonical and atypical for Christianity. There are no similar churches not only in Belarus, but probably throughout Europe, which makes this object only more interesting.

The first mention of the place Big Svorotva belong to the middle of the 15th century, as the possessions of the family Khreptovichi. Then these lands passed from one noble family to another, but in this chain it is important to highlight Nezabytovsky.

Unusual churches in Belarus

It is at Yakub Nezabytovsky in 1823 a triangular church was built in Bolshoy Svorotva. It is noteworthy that on the site where this temple stands, there was previously a similar wooden building dating back to 1747 year.

How did the idea of building such an unusual temple come about?

There are several versions. One of the most logical and significant - ecumenical (*in this case, it means the equality of the religious denominations of Christianity). After all, the church was built Uniate and had three equivalent entrances with a common altar. There is an assumption that such an architectural decision had a specific meaning - bring people together. That is, believers (Catholics, Uniates and Orthodox) could enter from their separate entrance, but turn to God in front of one altar.

Of course, there is also a mystical version of construction - Masonic mission. As you remember, the triangle is a symbol of Freemasonry, so the temple in such forms willy-nilly evokes comparisons and analogies. In addition, the temple was consecrated in honor of Holy Trinity.

The simplest and most banal version of the construction is that Temple in Bolshaya Svorotva not at all unique. The 18th century is the heyday of the baroque and experiments in architecture. Therefore, there is an opinion that this church is a modest copy of European places of worship. The only caveat, even a Google search refuses to give out similar temples, so this theory looks unlikely.

Less visible architectural features include the interior layout. The main volume of the church is occupied by a hexagonal room with an altar in the center, which is adjacent to the whole 3 sacristy equal size. (usually there are 2 or 1)

Temples of Belarus

In 1939, the Nezabytovsky estate in Bolshaya Svorotova was nationalized, and during the Second World War the church was destroyed. The truth remains a mystery who exactly. Most sources are sure that the partisans did this in order not to leave a convenient defensive position for the Germans.

After these events, the Trinity Church stood abandoned for almost 70 years, until a large-scale reconstruction began in 2006.
