In the Mostovsky district, almost on the very bank of the Neman River, you can see ruins of the chapel-tomb of Yablonovsky. Most often it is indicated that the chapel is located in the village cheeks, however, this is not entirely true. A massive building, of an unusual shape, is located a kilometer to the south, in the village Yablonevo (In fact, there is only one house).

It was in these parts that since the 18th century lived Yablonovsky. As expected, there was a panorama estate with a manor house. Unfortunately, the estate itself has not been preserved, only a few outbuildings have survived.

Tomb in the village of Shchechitsy

Little is known about the tomb. It is believed that it was built under the prince Jozef Alexander Yablonovsky between 1740 and 1764.

In 1766, in this very chapel, the prince married Victoria Voronetskaya (this is his second wife, before that he was married to Teresa Radziwill). In a few years, Jozef will leave these lands forever and will never return to his estate Yablonevo.

In 1816, the estate and lands were sold to Prince Voronetsky (after that, the names of the owners changed more than once). The chapel also passed from one family to another, continuing to be a family tomb.

Another interesting aspect of the tomb is its size and shape. One gets the impression that the building is triangular, but with cut corners. False columns with pilasters have been preserved on the walls.

Getting to the village of Shchechitsy can be problematic, the navigator refuses to plot a route. Therefore, it is more convenient to put a mark on the village “Mowers“, from where the road will lead you straight to the ruins of the Yablonovsky chapel.
