Any person who comes to see Palace of the Radziwills, you will definitely want to take a walk around. Well-groomed territory along the fortress moats, alleys and paths, mysterious sculptures and a beautiful bridge over a pond - all this makes up landscape park in Nesvizh, and to be more precise, there are as many as 5 parks.
Behind the bridge, from the side of the P91 highway, there is the English and Marysin Park, from the side of the main gate and slightly to the left of the entrance is the Castle (aka Antonia), to the right of the palace is the Old Park.
The farthest is the Japanese Park; to get there you will first need to go through the entire “Old” Park.
The formation of the park dates back to those hours when Nikolai Radziwill “The Orphan” dominated Nesvizh, and this is for a moment the second half of the 16th - early 17th centuries. That park was very small and even modest. All subsequent Radziwills contributed to the development of the complex, some took positive steps, while others, on the contrary, spoiled the work of their predecessors.
The real heyday of the park in Nesvizh is considered to be the period under Maria Dorothea Elisabeth de Castellan. It was she who, in 1870, initiated the creation of a model garden in the city; for this, an eminent gardener from Poland was even invited.
Those parks (as you remember, there are 5 of them) that can be seen today are considered the merit of Mary, and the total area of the entire park complex is approximately 66 hectares. In memory of the activities of this woman and her contribution to the development of Nesvizh, several memorial and gratitude boulders were installed in the Old Park.
Walking along the alleys you can see a variety of trees and shrubs, and there are several interesting sculptures.
Here, for example, is a sculpture in honor of a dog who, according to legend, saved one of the Radziwills from a bear.
And here is an unusual sculptural composition – “Music and Angels”.
The famous mermaid of Nesvizh.
You can also find a sundial in the park; it was installed on the 115th anniversary of the founding of Nesvizh Park (1993).
Below is a point marking the place where the entrance to the Old Park is located:
If you are in Nesvizh, I recommend visiting the central part of the city from town halls, church and Slutsk Gate.
