History - Saigon War Museum

The museum opened on September 4, 1975 under the name “Exhibition House for US and Puppet Regime Crime“. In translation Exhibition house of the USA and the Puppet Regime of Violence. After 15 years, the name was changed to a less radical one - the Museum of War Crimes and Aggression. The final version, the Museum of War Victims, was adopted in 1995.

The museum is divided into 13 conditional expositions, each revealing a specific theme or period of the Vietnam War. Particular attention is paid to archival photo materials with captions for events. Knowledge of English will be a huge plus, or use the services of a Russian-speaking guide to understand many of the photos.

It makes no sense to describe all the halls, for myself the museum of war victims is divided into 3 parts:

  • Exposition of weapons and military equipment on the street

  • The main building is the main part with a photo archive. There is also a hall with weapons and exhibits.

  • The third part is prison. This exposition is small, but very difficult to perceive. It is a recreated tiger camera, for the maintenance of prisoners of war.

War Museum in Saigon Definitely worth a visit for anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh City. Such an experience will allow you to take a different look at the Vietnamese and their history. You will be strongly impressed.
