Possibly one of the most unusual churches in Belarus is located in Bobruisk. At least infrequently you can find a temple without a facade. Rather, there is a facade - a classic Soviet building that replaced the tower.
Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built at the beginning of the 20th century in Bobruisk. Has clear architectural style neogothic with elements baroque in the interior of the temple.
The church has a rectangular shape, a gable roof. The side facades are rhythmically divided by high lancet window openings and pylons-phials in the piers.
With the advent of Soviet power, services in the temple ceased, and the building itself was transferred for household needs.
According to the terrible tradition of the Soviet managers of religious objects, an agricultural warehouse was organized here. Then the building was used as a branch of the museum and even a sports school. (Did you know that in Bobruisk Cathedral had a swimming pool?)
In the late 60s, the church was partially destroyed - the lancet tower and the vestibule were demolished. At the same time, a typical administrative office was added to the temple. five-story building.
Church in Bobruisk inside
Usually, almost all parish-type sights on our project do not have photos inside. But the Bobruisk church aroused great interest. It basically has 2 entrances. One is in the administrative building, and the second is directly in the temple itself.
The very decoration of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is quite ordinary and even modest.
Not far from the church in Bobruisk, we advise you to look House of Merchant Katsnelson and of course Bobruisk fortress.
The church is located away from the center of Bobruisk, on the street October 121.
