Benyakoni - This is a small agricultural town, almost on the very border with Lithuania, located on the M1 highway. Surely, many travelers and lovers of trips to Vilnius passed this place. Of the attractions here, it is worth highlighting Church of Saint John the Baptist.
The stone church in Benyakoni was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The architectural style to which the building belongs is − eclecticism with elements of neo-baroque and neoclassicism.
Work on the temple was carried out from 1900 to 1902.
Church in Benyakoni - This is a two-tower, three-nave basilica with a transverse nave, powerful three-tier bell towers and rectangular sacristies. The main altar was erected in neoclassical style and decorated with a colonnade.
In the center of the altar are a picturesque depiction of the scene of the Baptism of the Lord. The painting of the interior was made by the artist K. Kvyatkovsky.
