Lepel is a regional center in the Vitebsk region. The city is located 150 kilometers from the capital and may be of interest to tourists. Perhaps one of the main attractions in Lepel is Church of St. Casimir.
The construction of the church began in 1857, and the work was completed only in 1876. The architecture of the temple belongs to the style of late classicism.
Since 1935, the Lepel church has been abandoned and has not been used for a long time. After the Second World War, a garage was built in the walls, for some time an electrical substation was located here.
After the collapse of the USSR, the church in Lepel was returned to the city's Catholics. Reconstruction began, and already in 1993 the first divine services.
The Church of St. Casimir is located almost on the very shore Lake Lepel. Therefore, I recommend taking a walk along the embankment and the old park. Walking, here you can see an interesting sculpture Tsmoku (dragon from Slavic mythology).
