a small village mosar, in the Vitebsk region, is well known in sightseeing map of Belarus. Here it is Church of St. Anne, which is decorated with a wonderful park with many sculptures and decorative accents. Mosar is the very example of the development of tourism in the country through the hands and efforts of enthusiasts.
History and description of the temple
Place mosar mentioned in the historical chronicle as early as the beginning of the 16th century, as a possession Yuri Zenovich. However, the church was built much later, at the end of the 18th century, when these lands belonged to a couple Bzhostovsky. Under them, a palace-estate was also erected (it has not survived to this day, it was destroyed in 1920 by the Red Army).
Mosar church dates back to 1792. The architecture is dominated by classicism. The temple building itself is quite simple: a gable roof, with a classic triangular pediment.
There are sculptures on both sides of the entrance.
Church of St. Anne It turned out to be open on our arrival, so we managed to see the interior live. The walls are decorated with 14 high relief compositions “Way of the Cross of Christ“, and under the choirs there are memorial plaques in memory of the founders of the church.
The temple also has its own shrine - relics of Saint Justin, which were delivered to Mosar back in 1838. According to legend, the remains were brought to several other temples nearby, but it was in Mosar that the horses stalled and did not go further. The believers took this as a sign and left the relics in the church of St. Anna.
In front of the entrance to the territory of the church there are 3 significant buildings, united by a stone fence. On right - bell tower erected in 1931.
At the base of the bell tower you can see a stone cross.
The centerpiece is three-arch gate late 19th - early 20th century.
And on the left is the newest part of the church in Mosar - chapel-gate. By the way, as planned, this object is a copy of “sharp brama" at Vilnius.
On the side of the pediment there is an inscription in Latin: “Mater Misericordiae“ which means “Mother of Mercy“, and on top is the symbol of the eye in a triangle with divergent rays of the sun.

What else is interesting about the church in the village of Mosar?
Mosar village really attracts tourists and one of the reasons for this is the territory of the church, which is a real park. Until 1990, the Church of St. Anne, although it was a historical landmark, did not particularly stand out among hundreds of other churches in the country. Much has changed when the rector of the church became Juozas Vintsevich Bulka. It was under him that a chapel was built, a park was laid, a museum was created and the territory of Mosar was ennobled.
In August 2005, a monument to John Paul II was solemnly erected in front of the church.
In the central part of the park there is a local interpretation of the work “Pieta“, carried out Michelangelo Buonarroti in 1499. The Mosar version is very similar to the original, differing mainly in the location and proportions of Jesus.
Walking through the park you will find many pleasant little things that delight the eye. It is difficult to describe here all the accents of this place, for sure you will find something interesting for you personally.
