Shkolny Settlement – Neo-Romanesque Church
On the border of the Stolbtsovsky district, Minsk region, there is a village with the name School. The main attraction of this place is Church of the Heart of Jesus, which was built in the period 1931-34. Despite the fact that the temple is not yet 100 years old, it will be interesting to visit it for a number of reasons. Home - atypical, similar churches on the territory of modern Belarus not so much. Architectural style - Neo-Romanesque, but with elements of confusion and even constructivism.
Often, the church of the Heart of Jesus is referred to the village Khotov, which is closer to the P54 highway, but this is erroneous. Or rather, partially erroneous, since earlier all these lands were part of the estate of the Nezabytovskys and bore one common name - Khotova. The church was founded on the money of Charles and Sophia Nezabytovsky, on the site of a wooden chapel.
The temple was built in the interwar period and therefore did not function for long. Already in 1944, literally 10 years after the completion of the work, the church in the village of Shkolny was closed. As often happened in Soviet times, the church building was adapted to the needs of a local enterprise - a warehouse was justified.
Over time, the church came into a neglected form and began to collapse. The situation changed at the end of the 20th century, when local residents demanded the return of the temple. Through the efforts and diligence of local parishioners, the church in Shkolny was restored.
