Wasp - is a very small village in the Voronovsky district, which is located between the agro-town of Pogorodno and the village Bastuns. Among the attractions here I would like to highlight Church of St. George (in many sources it is Yuri, but the sign on the wall of the church says that it is actually George). The church dates back to the first half of the 20th century and I will immediately note that if possible, try to look inside - you will find gorgeous paintings and a unique interior (unfortunately, I did not succeed, so no photos).
The first wooden church in Osowa was built in the middle of the 17th century, when these lands were owned by Kazimierz Franzkevich-Rodziminski; it was he and his wife who initiated and sponsored the construction of the church.
The next church on this site dates back to 1732, when the town of Osova belonged to the Radziwills. The 18th century church was heavily rebuilt later in history – the towers were dismantled, an image of that old church can be seen in the photo by Jan Balzunkiewicz below.
As you can see, the fence and the small gate were left as a legacy to the new stone church. But the wooden bell tower has not survived.
The construction of the neo-Gothic church began in 1903, and the architect of the project was a certain Lukian Kabylinsky. The work took almost 7 years and was completed in 1910.
The architecture of the Church of St. George is distinguished by a triangular pediment with a built-on bell tower. The temple is built of yellow brick and decorated with large hewn rubble boulders. The walls are cut by high arched windows, and symmetrical sacristy are located on the sides of the building.
The apse of the church is quite small, 5-sided, if you are coming from the P135 highway, you will first see the back part of the church.
What is interesting is that the church has an organ installed, which was playing in the old wooden church more than 100 years ago. Below is a point with the location of this object on the map:
I also recommend looking in the Voronovsky district Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Nache and wooden Temple of the Heart of Jesus in Konveliški.
