One of the oldest attractions in the urban village Stern (bel – Karma) – ruins of the church of St. Nicholas. This facility has almost 200 years of history and has seen a lot. It is believed that the church was built in 1832, but it is curious that initially it was apparently Uniate. Then, 4 years later, she was transferred to the fold of the Orthodox faith. There is another version, according to which the Uniate church was never completed (the events and consequences of the uprising of the 30s interfered). The initiator of the construction of the church in Korma was the local nobles Bykovsky (you can also see them in Korma manor house).

The ruins of the church are picturesquely located on a hill, which is unusual - I found information indicating that the hill was built artificially. For what? It is likely that the temple could be seen from afar, and the ringing of bells could be heard even in distant houses.

On one of the walls of the temple you can see a small mural depicting the supposed appearance of the Church of St. Nicholas in better times. In 1991, there were conversations and even plans were made about reconstructing the temple, but in the end they decided to build a new church in a different place.

In the ruins one can still discern the features of the architectural style of classicism. Brick columns stand tall in front of the entrance, and thick walls bravely resist vandals and bad weather.

The temple was closed in early Soviet times. Religious paraphernalia was removed from the walls, the bell was quickly removed, and the building itself was turned over to the needs of a warehouse. Then a House of Culture was organized within the walls of the church. In the post-war years, the building was “improved” - a one-story building was added to the side and a bakery was launched. The enterprise operated until the 60s, 20th century, and after a strong fire, the former church was finally abandoned.

The temple building was not repaired, so the condition deteriorated greatly; despite this fact, in the 2000s the object was included in the list of monuments of historical and cultural values.

Let's hope that this will help preserve the oldest landmark of the urban village of Korma.

Below is a point with the place where the ruins are located:

If you are in these parts, I recommend going to Bykhov to see synagogue и Chodkiewicz-Sapeg castle.
