Church of St. Peter and Paul in Bereza

Located on Soviet street St. Peter and Paul Church, the mention of which begins in the second half of the 18th century. Although the information plate of the temple indicates the 19th century. This church in Bereza acquired its modern appearance only at the beginning of the 21st century after a major restoration.

The first mention of a Uniate church in Bereza dates back to 1618, thanks to Lev Sapieha, who bought Bereza a year earlier. However, in the middle of the 17th century the church passed to the Carthusian monastery.

In the second half of the 18th century, a new stone church was erected, which was lit in honor of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. In 1839 the Berezovsky church became Orthodox.

The old picture shows how much work has been done. The temple acquired the Russian-Byzantine style. Being in this city Brest regiondon't forget to also visit ruins of the Carthusian monastery, which was founded in the 17th century and is included in the list of the most interesting sights of Belarus.
