One of the sights of the Upper City in Minsk can safely be called Church of the Holy Spirit. Today the building is used as children's philharmonic and in fact the temple is no longer a long time. However, historically, on this very spot, a Uniate church was built in the middle of the 17th century. That temple belonged to the monastery of the Basilian order, underwent many changes and reconstructions.
With 1795 year basilian monastery closed, the church becomes Orthodox, and the building itself is rebuilt into the Peter and Paul Cathedral. Over the following years, the temple will acquire pronounced features of the pseudo-Russian style.
In the 30s of the 20th century, the church in the Upper Town was closed. For some time, a warehouse for storing and processing grain was organized within the walls of the temple.Zagotzerno". In 1936, the building of the former Church of the Holy Spirit was destroyed.
In 2009, work begins to recreate the project of the 17th century church on the old foundation. The source is an ordinary drawing by an unknown author. Construction was completed in 2011. Now within the walls of this building is Hall of the Children's Philharmonic "Upper City". Musical evenings and Minsk festivals often take place in front of the entrance to the former temple.
