Village Martinovo - it's a real deep Belarus. Picturesque and rather remote places, where in bad weather the roads become difficult to overcome. Here, near the Ulla River, a local landmark stands proudly - abandoned church.
Rather, the temple only looks abandoned. The area around is cleaned, there is a lock on the door, and building materials and scaffolding inside. Most likely, some local enterprising resident maintains the state of the church on his own.
In some sources, the temple is listed as Church of the Intercession, but there is another name - Holy Right-believing Prince Alexander Nevsky.
The church was built in the late 19th, early 20th century, in pseudo-Russian style architecture. It is interesting that in the Beshenkovichi district there are several more similar temples (Slobodka и Candle). They were probably even built in the same period and possibly by the same masters.
The church was abandoned in the 30s, when anti-religious sentiments were actively planted. Martinovo has an interesting history connected with the temple. Locals say that during the war a plane crashed here, and when it fell, it hit the church tower and demolished the cross.
Despite the fact that the church in Martinovo has been abandoned for a long time, the building has been well preserved.
The church is located on the outskirts of the village, see the point on the map:
